Goodbye Summer

Goodbye Summer
We part ways again,
as your trailing winds soothe my sunned skin.

Your days, rays, buds, and waves
filled our cups to the end.

Cousins, brothers,
sisters, mothers,
fathers, and friends
echo in yesterday’s pen,

weighed in joy and laughter,
stars and storms,
sculpted the season you provided again.

We step through your ever-changing door—
of transition,
of reluctant growth,

finalizing your boast—
warmth, adventure, love, and loss.

Until we meet again,
my good friend.
